Group CPR and AED training for businesses

Why Group CPR and AED Training Matters

1. Faster Response Saves Lives

When cardiac arrest strikes, every second counts. Immediate CPR and AED use can double or triple a victim’s chances of survival. Group training ensures that multiple team members are capable of taking action before emergency responders arrive.

2. OSHA and Industry Compliance

Group certification meets OSHA regulations and industry-specific requirements and follows American Heart Association (AHA) ECC guidelines, ensuring that your workforce is prepared for emergencies.

3. Unified Emergency Protocols

By training together, employees learn to coordinate during high-stress scenarios. Practicing hands-on simulations as a team enhances cohesion, builds confidence, and improves real-life outcomes.

Why Group CPR and AED Training Matters

Owning a defibrillator properly

Buying an AED is the easy part; keeping it usable is the part that fails. Pads expire, typically every two to three years, and batteries have a finite life. A unit with expired pads may refuse to deliver a shock at the moment it is needed, and there is no way to discover that during an emergency. Someone has to own the checks by name, with a schedule, or they do not happen.

Placement should be decided by time, not by tidiness. The target is that anyone in the building can reach the unit and return within a few minutes, which usually means a public, unlocked corridor rather than a manager's office. If the building has floors, multiple units are frequently the honest answer, stairs cost far more time than distance on the flat.

Train more people than seems necessary. Businesses commonly certify a small number of first aiders and then discover that on a given day none of them are in, or that the one who is has never actually opened the cabinet. Every trained person who knows where the unit is and is willing to fetch it while someone else compresses shortens the response, and that interval is what determines the outcome.

Updated for 2026. Updated in 2026. What follows is the position as it stands today.

Taken as blended learning, the CPR/AED in-person session is 170 minutes (2 hours 50 minutes) on top of the online coursework. First Aid runs 240 minutes (4 hours) in the classroom and 120 minutes (2 hours) in person when blended.

The skills evaluation is always conducted face to face with an instructor, on manikins and real equipment. It is never done by webcam or on a virtual manikin.
