Lifeguard training modules are stackable certifications, lifeguarding, waterfront, junior lifeguarding, CPR/AED and first aid, taken individually or combined to match the facility you will work at.
Founded with a vision to make lifesaving education accessible, American Aquatics trains thousands of students annually, helping create safer camps, schools, pools, and neighborhoods across the country.
Lifeguard training is more than a job requirement, it’s a responsibility to protect lives. Drowning remains a leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. Lifeguards serve as first responders, capable of recognizing emergencies, intervening effectively, and administering care until EMS arrives.
Whether it’s in a recreational pool or open waterfront, well-trained lifeguards minimize risk, prevent incidents, and save lives. This makes thorough, updated training not just essential, but legally and ethically necessary for public and private facilities alike.

We’ve structured our training modules into specialized certifications that can be taken individually or stacked. This modular format allows flexibility, whether you’re a camp counselor needing basic CPR or a professional aquatic director seeking advanced lifeguarding and instructor-level certification.
Each program incorporates blended learning (online + in-person) and adheres to the latest OSHA, Red Cross, and CDC guidelines.
Our core Lifeguard Certification includes:
Water rescue techniques
Surveillance and prevention
Spinal injury management
CPR/AED and First Aid
We offer tailored tracks for:
Pool Lifeguarding (standard public and private pools)
Waterfront Lifeguarding (lakes, beaches, camps)
Participants must pass a swim test prior to enrollment. Upon completion, students receive a 2-year certificate approved in almost every state in the US and CMAHC approved.
Designed for ages 11 to 15, this module introduces foundational rescue and safety skills in a non-certifying format. It includes:
Water competency and safety drills
Basic first aid and CPR overview
Leadership and team-building activities
This program is ideal for preparing youth to transition into certified lifeguarding roles.
For facilities with pools no deeper than 5 feet, this course meets specific needs without compromising safety standards. It covers:
Surface rescues
Victim recognition
Backboarding in shallow environments
It’s particularly suited for splash pads, hotel pools, and small community centers.
Our Waterfront module trains candidates for natural water environments such as lakes, rivers, and oceans. Key focus areas include:
Identifying and escaping rip currents
Using rescue boards and buoys
Managing changing weather conditions
Team communication in large areas
This module is ideal for camps, state parks, and beachfront resorts.
Included in most of our lifeguard certifications, this training is also available as a standalone course. Lifeguards master:
Chest compressions and rescue breaths
Using automated external defibrillators (AEDs)
Scene assessment and victim care
Two-person CPR techniques
Aligned with AHA and Red Cross standards, this is a critical requirement for emergency preparedness.
This module equips lifeguards and other safety personnel with:
Bleeding control
Burn and fracture response
Emergency oxygen administration
Heat stroke and cold emergencies
Hands-on and scenario-based, it builds confidence and quick decision-making in crisis moments.
We also offer CPR training for:
School teachers
Parents
Coaches
Workplace employees
This course meets OSHA and state mandates for basic workplace safety compliance.
Protecting a workplace or public facility also means ensuring it’s free from harassment. This certified module helps organizations:
